NAICC Endorses House Bill 4757 for Small Business Relief
NAICC urges Governor Whitmer and the Michigan legislature to pass HB 4757, which would increase the alcohol purchase discount for retailers facing rising operational costs.
The North American Indian Chamber of Commerce has issued a formal letter of support for House Bill 4757, which proposes a vital increase in the discount percentage for alcohol purchased by retailers in Michigan.
In a letter addressed to Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Honorable State Representatives and Senators, NAICC President Dhaval Vaishnav wrote: "The current 17% discount requirement has remained stagnant despite significant economic changes and mounting operational costs. Small retailers — the cornerstone of Michigan's economy — face escalating expenses in labor, rent, utilities, insurance, and regulatory compliance, making it increasingly difficult to maintain viable profit margins."
The proposed adjustment would enable small businesses to reinvest in their operations and infrastructure, create additional employment opportunities, maintain their essential role in serving Michigan's communities, and compete more effectively in the modern retail landscape.
"House Bill 4757 represents a critical opportunity to address these systemic challenges and foster a more sustainable business environment across Michigan," Vaishnav added. "We strongly urge you to support this legislation."
This advocacy effort reflects NAICC's broader commitment to championing practical legislative reform that supports Indian American business owners and small retailers across the state.
